"Personal data is the new oil of the internet and the new currency of the digital world."
Meglena Kuneva, European Consumer Commissioner, 2009
In a digital context, the processing of personal data is of central importance for companies presenting, to the same extent, enormous contingencies. This relevance is currently applicable across several economic sectors, with personal data being a key asset for companies. The impact that a security breach may have on the reputation and density of the relevant legislation, (which is compounded by the imminent entry into force of the new General Data Protection Regulation) requires the establishment of strict compliance procedures for companies that process personal data.
In order to help clients prepare for the changes introduced by the new GDPR, applicable to all EU member states, CCA created the Data Protection Team, a multidisciplinary team composed not only of data protection experts, but also lawyers who, within their respective departments, have accumulated extensive experience in this area, due to daily monitoring of issues related to the processing of personal data in the workplace, in the scope of new technologies and telecommunications, as well as in litigation.
