The dismissal of Frederico Pinheiro, deputy of the Office of the Minister of Infrastructure, following the discloser of confidential information of the Parliamentary Investigative Commission in the “TAP” case, is at the centre of yet another controversy. The issue at hand is the intervention of the Portuguese Internal Intelligence System (SIS) in the recovery of the laptop belonging to the former deputy official containing classified information. In a statement to TVI, Henrique Salinas, partner at CCA and head of the Criminal Law and Compliance practice, commented on SIS's intervention from a legal standpoint.
According to Henrique Salinas, “SIS cannot operate in the field, so to speak, as this intervention is reserved for law enforcement agencies.”
