The Government intends to strengthen the Central Criminal Investigation Court (TCIC),the so-called Ticão, with a staff of nine judges, instead of the current two - Carlos Alexandre and Ivo Rosa. Speaking to Jornal de Negócios, Henrique Salinas, CCA's Partner and Head of the Criminal Law & Compliance area, commented on the reform envisaged by the Executive, which, although perceived in a positive way, is still far from generating a consensus regarding its implementation.
For the CCA partner, "the right solution would be the one defended by the former president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Henriques Gaspar, and by the current vice-president of the Superior Council of the Magistracy, José António Lameira, in order to extinguish the TCIC, distributing its competences by the various criminal investigation jurisdictions existing in the country".
