The law profession of the future is getting closer and closer and innovative technologies are gradually more present in the sector, which allows lawyers to focus on soft skills, while repetitive tasks are in charge of fast and efficient algorithms. Nevertheless, law firms’ leaders and technology heads ensure that it is necessary to involve the board of directors and technology teams to be successful in the digital transformation. Speaking to Jornal Económico, Jorge Machado, CCA’s Managing Director, shares CCA's digitization strategy.
"(...) it is important to remember that a digitization process ends up changing the way we relate to the world and that for many of us it has a direct impact on deeply rooted processes (...) therefore, it is extremely important to involve the support areas, namely Human Resources and Marketing, in order to develop effective and coherent internal communication, so that there is less internal resistance in the adoption of these processes, and to ensure that the objectives of the firm are transversal and common to all. (...) In summary, I would say that the strategy to develop a coherent process is to have a well-defined vision and objectives and to manage it correctly since the process implementation, but also to ensure that the change of habits and the organizational culture itself are not an obstacle to putting it to practice. Only in this way will we achieve full acceptance of new projects, regardless of the generations, cultures, and habits of the people who adopt them", says Jorge Machado.
