Every year, changing the calendar to a new year brings price updates, with increases and decreases, from wages and taxes to rents, transportation, and food. Speaking to Executive Digest, José Pedro Barros, CCA's Associate of the Tax Department explains what changes, or not, in price as of January 1st, 2021.
Regarding the tax on the consumption of sugary drinks and added sweeteners drinks, José Pedro Barros specifies that "there is no change in 2021 compared to the year 2020, being that are subject to this tax, beverages intended for human consumption, added with sugar or other sweeteners and beverages with an alcoholic strength greater than 0.5 % abv and less than or equal to 1.2 % abv, as well as concentrates, in the form of syrup or powder, intended for the preparation of beverages referred to in the preceding paragraphs, at the premises of the final consumer or retailer".
