Marta Cardoso Rodrigues, Associate of the Labor Department at CCA ONTIER, in statements to Dinheiro Vivo, comments on the new rules on the payment of Social Security contributions by self-employed workers. The changes came into effect earlier this year, but their practical effects arrived in January 2019. In addition to the discount rates, the way to calculate the income on which these discounts apply has been altered.
As regards income earned through local accommodation, the law provides that "certain holders of category B income, including those whose income is derived exclusively from urban lease for local accommodation, are excluded from the personal scope of the self-employed scheme", says Marta Cardoso Rodrigues.
