The rapid and constant evolution of technology has transformed and increased the complexity of areas of practice, such as Data Protection and Intellectual Property. Martim Bouza Serrano, Partner, and Coordinator of CCA's Technologies, Media & Telecommunications Department, in a statement to Iberian Lawyer, comments on the opportunities and challenges arising from the complexification of these legal sectors, and points out the work that Portuguese companies are still facing when we talk about cybersecurity.
"There is a vast universe of companies in Portugal that are not GDPR compliant and there are many others that formally implemented the GDPR but failed to embed an adequate privacy driven policy into their business. This means that there is still an enormous work to be done regarding privacy awareness and companies really need to understand that the 26th of March 2019, (the day the GDPR came into force) was, in fact, a starting point for a new approach regarding privacy", stresses Martim Bouza Serrano.
