From the creation of the extraordinary contribution on short-term rental accommodation properties and the suspension of the issuing of new licences, introduced with the Mais Habitação package in October 2023, to its revocation by the current government, only one year has passed and the same path is already expected for all the measures in this programme. In an opinion article for Vida Judiciária, Raquel Sirvoicar Rodrigues, Senior Associate in the Real Estate department of CCA Law Firm, reflects on the current status of the framework governing short-term rental accommodation and what is expected from the legislative recasting.
"What we would ask for in the case of short-term rental accommodation would be a general legal framework that, like the legal framework for tourist resorts, distinguishes between the various types of tourist operation (...)", says the Senior Associate.
