Amendments to the Portuguese Nationality Regulation

The changes introduced by the New Nationality Regulation will come into force on April 15^th, 2022 and will apply to cases pending on the date of entry into force of the decree-law, except for cases based on article 6 (7) of the Nationality Law (granting of nationality by naturalization to descendants of Portuguese Sephardic Jews, with exemption from certain requirements) and all new cases.

Article 24-A of the New Nationality Regulation ("Naturalization of foreigners who are descendants of Portuguese Sephardic Jews"), will only come into force on September 1^st, 2022, apart from its no. 4, concerning the model to be approved for the Jewish community certificate.
