According to the statistics recently published by the Gaming Regulation and Inspection Service (SRIJ), during the fourth quarter of 2023 there was a 16.4% growth on the gross revenue when in comparison to the same quarter of the previous year. The gross revenue of the last quarter of 2023 amounted to EUR 227.4M.
Said growth in revenue was driven by an increase of EUR 21.1M euros in games of chance.
When it comes to the fixed odds sports betting, there was a 14.8% decline in gross revenue compared to the same period in 2022.
As for the Portuguese players gambling preferences, statistics are consistent with previous reports showing Football as the favourite sport among bettors in Portugal (74.7% of the total number of bets placed), being Slot Machines the most popular in terms of games of change (83.0% of the total number of bets placed).
