The Portuguese Gaming Regulation and Inspection Service has recently published information referent to the online gambling and betting activity for the first quarter of 2024.
According to the data made available, the online gambling and betting activity generated a total gross revenue of EUR 260.9M during the mentioned quarter, representing a 32.9% increase compared to the same quarter of last year.
Such growth in revenue is supported by both fixed odds sports betting with EUR 100.6M (17.4% more than the previous year), and games of chance with EUR 160.3M (44.8% more than the same period of 2023).
As for the preferences in Portugal, statistics show football (soccer), as favourite sport among bettors in Portugal, with 72.4% of the total number of bets placed, and slots as the most popular game of chance (with 82.2% of the total number of bets placed).
