Decree-Law No. 12/2021 will enter into force on 12 March 2021 Decree-Law No. 12/2021, which ensures in Portugal the implementation of Regulation (EU) 910/2014 on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market, promoting greater use of these services by citizens.
In this context, the Portuguese authorities were designated and given the powers to carry out the supervisory activities provided for in the Regulation and the sanctioning framework applicable in the event of an infringement of the rules set out therein was defined.
At the same time, the existing legislation on the validity, effectiveness, and evidential value of electronic documents and on the State Electronic Certification System - Public Key Infrastructure was consolidated.
