Diana Brioso Gonçalves is a Managing Associate in CCA's European Union and Competition law department, having joined the firm in 2024.
Boasting a solid international career, she advises public and private clients in all areas of European Union law and competition rules in Portugal. In particular, within the scope of European Union litigation, on issues of non-compliance by the State, State aid and the application of competition rules; merger control procedures; agreements between competitors and vertical co-operation between companies; abuses of a dominant position, abuses of economic dependence, and individual practices that restrict trade (which include selling at a loss or refusing to sell).
She focuses on the design and implementation of compliance programmes aimed, in general, at the regular monitoring of companies' business activity, as well as identifying and preventing any risks of non-compliance with competition legislation. She also focuses on issues such as private enforcement actions, both before the Portuguese Competition Authority and the European Commission, as well as litigation brought before European courts and national courts (including legal proceedings brought before arbitral tribunals).
She was appointed by the Portuguese Competition Authority as a non-governmental advisor (NGA) in the International Competition Network (ICN) for the Merger Working Group. She is a member of the ICC Portugal Competition Commission and the ICC Global Competition Commission, Merger Control Task Force.
